How to pack for the weekend trip

What to take and What to Leave

The Weekend (or better yet Long Weekend) Trip is one of the most underrated ways to vacation.  Pack up your stuff, hop on a flight or jump in your car, and go for a few days.  I could argue that it’s far superior to packing up your entire life for a week or two… flying across the country… and then getting the inevitable “man I wish I was just at home in my own space” feeling five days in.

A change of scenery without being gone for too long has a great balance to it.  Here’s some sound advice from various places on how to make the packing, taking, and going that much easier.

Esquire’s list of the Summer Weekend “Go Bag”. 13 Items.

GQ’s The New Way to Pack. 10 Secrets to Flying Easy.

Complex.com’s How to Pack a Wrinkle Free Suitcase. Folding instructions for all that hard to fold stuff.

Ninesheets.com (sorry, cheap plug) suggests what to put everything in.
The right bag can help make it a lot easier.

Backpacker Magazine on how to leave it all behind. And by all, they mean the tent too.
