Proof that style doesn’t have to cost a fortune. It’s our monthly list of ten picks, each individually costing less than seventy five bucks. Got a tip on something for under $75? Send those in to joe@dappered.com.
Back for another Fall/Winter. Lots of colors. 100% extra fine merino wool. Can go on sale from time to time. When they do, they’re usually $10 off. So worth keeping an eye out for that. They say they’re washable… but skip that. Washing machines can vary so greatly that it’s just not worth the risk. And as they’re 100% merino, they’re naturally anti microbial. Just take them to the dry cleaner when they feel grimy or funky. You’ll be surprised how long you can go.
And the V-necks. A reminder: Don’t expect some bulky/chunky knit. The depth of the fabric is super slim, yet still strong feeling. So they’re perfect for layering.

Size shown above is a medium on 5’10″/180. Surprisingly pretty good for being one of those generic/oddly named “I got it off Amazon” brands. Quilted but not overly so. Yet they still have some insulation. Five colors to pick from. Only knock is that the zipper pulls are polished instead of brushed or black. But that might be a bit nitpicky considering the price. Ships via Amazon. That’s key with these brands. You want Amazon to have skin in the game/fulfill the shipping and/or returns.

Because it’s getting dark earlier and earlier. So good lighting is a must (not just harsh overheads). Held to its base by magnets and detachable for walking around with, this cheap & rechargeable USB baton lamp/sconce is easy to setup (peel and stick 3m glue backing), easy to use (either motion sensing mode or standard switch-on at end of baton), and looks great. For under $20, it’s quite a nifty bit of home decor/lighting. “Sokath! His eyes open!”

Anybody grab one of those $50 adidas giftcards when they were $10 off during Amazon Prime Deal Days? Now’s not a bad time to stack that on this 40% off deal and get a pair of classic Continental sneakers for $50 (when using the $10 off gift card). Textured leather uppers, classic silhouette, and just enough color. Review here if you’re interested.

We have a neighbor who leaves his 12 foot skeleton up year round. He decorates it for different holidays, with 2 large Christmas Ornaments taking up a… ballsy position come December. But October is obviously his time to shine. Anyway, you may think holiday themed socks are silly. But Darn Tough knits their socks (all kinds, not just holiday themed) in Vermont from merino wool blends, and I swear upon the heads of all Sour Patch Kids they’re as comfortable as can be. They don’t run sales. So a free shipping promo is as close as we’ll get to one.

And now a pair of plain (but still awesome) socks for those in the Bah Boo-Humbug camp when it comes to Halloween. If you had to pick one pair of socks to wear with everything (aside from shorts) then The Mid-Calf Standard from Darn Tough is it. They’re not too thick. Not too thin. Just right. Cushioned under foot and below the ankle. Looks and feels great with suits, jeans, chinos, etc. Being that merino is naturally temperature regulating, they feel just as great in the dead of summer as they do in the depths of winter. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. They’re the best. Period. Mid-calf height on these is great for wearing dressed up with suits, dress trousers, chinos & sportcoats, etc.
Via: Brooks Brothers Sale Section + extra 25% off + addit. 10% off for members
Price above reflects both the 25% off AND the additional 10% off for members deal. Also note: the shirt shown above isn’t Brooks Brothers, but it illustrates the idea. A dark blue chambray shirt adds just the right amount of texture and color here in the season of corduroy, moleskin, brushed wool, etc. Wear it under a blazer, chore coat, or sweater, or with a flannel suit and knit tie.
Via: J. Crew Factory: 60% – 70% off select
Basic tees. Which aren’t overly basic. Garment dyed. 100% cotton. Four colors. And 70% off is quite steep for J. Crew Factory.
