Most Wanted Affordable Style – November 2016

Consider these to be power rankings. Whether you’re looking for gift ideas or a quick upgrade for yourself, expect these to come around about once a month. You’ll find new arrivals and old favorites, especially good deals, or maybe something pricey to keep an eye on for future sales. The potential best of the best, which you may or may not have seen already. Got a tip on something that deserves to end up in the monthly Most Wanted? Send those in here.

Lands’ End Wool Flannel Tailored Fit Blackwatch Trousers – $59.40*

Technically labeled as a “tux” trouser, but there certainly doesn’t appear to be a satin stripe down the outer side of the legs? So… you should be able to wear these like any ol’ pair of flannels, except, y’know, these have more character going for them. Note that there is a matching jacket, but even that doesn’t have the usual tuxedo characteristics (satin lapel, covered buttons, etc.) Since it’s Lands’ End, you can get em’ hemmed at the warehouse if you’re comfortable with how their tailored fit fits your frame. *NOTE: You’ll need the code NICE & pin 2584 to get this 40% off price.

Armogan Le Mans Chronograph – $194.98 ($225)

Armogan has done it again. After riding their Spirit of St. Louis watch design for what feels like years (because it has been years…) they’ve come out with a new, slightly modified look. And boy it sure looks like they made all the right tweaks. Instead of three subdials, they’ve moved to two, spaced and proportioned perfectly at the X axis that runs between 9 and 3. Date window moves to six, and they’ve omitted the day option, which also keeps it symmetrical. Their terrific font and domed crystal and retro style pushers all remain, and it’s finished off with a perforated, speedy looking band. Gonna see about an in-person for a review/giveaway. Six color combos/options to choose from, but the Panada style above and the super clean, all silver-dial edition will probably go the quickest.

Sierra Nevada “Celebration” Fresh Hop IPA

In the autumn/winter world of dark, malty, winter warmers, Sierra Nevada goes for a big flavor fresh hop IPA. Lots of flavor but doesn’t drift into syrupy territory like many other reddish IPAs. Available just about everywhere. Has a crispness to it that makes you pay attention to each sip, but isn’t so bitter that it wallops you over the head with hops.

B.R. Factory Tailored Fit Windowpane Blazer – $132.99

There’s a big discrepancy between the above shot and the standard product pics on the BR Factory website… and lets hope it looks more like the above shot. All cotton exterior. Windowpane pattern that somehow achieves being bold and subtle, all at the same time. And the back might just be lined in chambray instead of poly?

J. Crew Cotton Mariner Cable Cardigan – $128

Spendy considering it’s cotton and not wool, but J. Crew really does do an excellent job with their shawl collar cardigans no matter the fabric of choice. And they nailed the seafaring thing here. Rich suede elbow patches help finish it off. Should look great on just about anyone this time of year, no matter if you’re more chips ahoy than ships ahoy.

BONUS: Saddleback Hard Sided Brief – $995

Good gracious it’s here. Well, it’s on backorder, but it actually happened. Saddleback made a hard sided briefcase. Set a professional goal. Work your tail off to achieve that goal. Reward thy self. One day.
