Boy howdy. Okay. So, it’s not a % off deal. It’s a tiered, set dollar amount. So for some items, you’ll be better off waiting. But for others? Now’s the time to jump.
J. Crew has been excluding much of their seasonal sportcoat and suit collection since it launched back at the beginning of the fall. But it looks like most, if not all, of the seasonal stuff is up for this code. But this code expires today… so… let’s get to it.
If you like to wear suits, and you live in a cold weather climate, then it’s hard not to love that feeling when you first pull on your flannel suit when the temps dip. It’s a luxury, yes. Worsted wools and other year-round fabrics can be worn in the dead of winter just fine. But a flannel, with that extra texture, can be extra nice to have on hand. Know that the Crosby only comes in two colors (navy and forest green) while the Ludlow comes in four shades.
Had to do some combining here to get over that highest $500 threshold… but not bad once we got there, no? A high quality shawl collar cardigan in true, Irish Donegal wool. Goodyear Welted boots in a rich shade of leather. And a cashmere cap to keep the cold off your head, all while keeping any kind of itch that comes with regular wool at bay. All for just over three bills. Yes, it’s a chunk of change, but it’s 39% off the regular prices. Not a fan of the apron toe stitch on the boots? Try their cap toe boots or their chelseas. Same price, so it works out to be the same deal.
Still far from cheap, but the reviews are great, it’s made from English wool, and if you’re looking for a camel colored blazer with good drape, non-functioning sleeve buttons, and a more breathable lining than most, then here it be. No Crosby fit here. Just the Ludlow.
Partially unconstructed, and you notice as soon as you slip it on. Lighter and easier to move in than other tweed sportcoats. Fabric blend is a 55% Wool / 45% Cotton mix that’s nubby enough to feel like an all wool tweed. Patch pockets. Ludlows are also available in brown, as well as a highly tempting navy. Size shown above left is a 40R Ludlow. Most will want the sleeves to be shortened, but that’s easy to do thanks to their non functioning sleeve buttons.
Possibly the sneakiest items in this sale. Thanks to these shoes being just north of $500, they’re actually a better price than the 30% off surprise deal that ran a week and a half back. Maybe worth contacting C.S. for a price adjustment if you dove in then?
Not a fan of that particular shade of grey, and/or prefer notch lapels to peak? Their notch lapel topcoats are getting this deal as well. Just make sure you trip that $500 balance with one of their scarves (or, something else around the $50+ price point). Why? Because if you don’t, just the coat will cost MORE (as in, a total of $375). With the scarf, you drop down to just under $310. And that works out to just about 40% off. Which is better than the usual 25% or 30% off discount these things often come with. Ta-da.
Big fan of that particular shade that they’re calling “Grey Cobalt.” Glen plaid, so there’s some pattern here. But it appears that it leans subtle. Fabric is made here in the states.
Okay your rakish types. The holidays are fast approaching. No… this ain’t something to wear to grandma’s on Thanksgiving. But for swanky Christmas parties and new years? Just be aware that it’s thick and warm. So if you run hot, you might end up boiling over. Available in blue, forest green, or black.
A tweed suit might be… the 6th or 7th suit a guy buys. If not more. And if he ever gets there. When it comes to cold weather suiting, most guys will go for the already mentioned flannel option. But tweed? Hey, if that’s your deal, then more power to you.
Dipping into the sale section here. Yes… that is a very blue suit. But perhaps its a little less saturated (like the shot of the pants) in person? Traveler wool isn’t as silky smooth as their Italian wools, but it does really seem to resist wrinkles and spring back into form nicely. Breathes great too. Back of the jacket is just half lined.
