10 Best Bets for $75 or Less – Warm Sweaters, Sleek Boots, & More

Seventy Five bucks. That’s a lot of money. It’ll get you a couple pairs of Levi’s, a decent casual dinner out, or a couple months at your local gym. Ten picks follow, all for $75 or under, with some of them much, much less. Expect these round-ups on a monthly basis. Got a tip on something for under $75? Send those in to joe@dappered.com.

J.C.F. Lambswool Buffalo Check Shawl Collar Cardigan – $79.50

Close enough. That’s a mighty fine looking sweater, so we’ll fudge the $75 limit for now. Plus, knowing JCF, you might be able to get it for less during a big holiday sale (say, black Friday / cyber Monday). All lambswool. Shawl collar. Makes you wanna go split some wood.

Allen Edmonds Tweed or Flannel & Leather Gloves – $75.00

The mixed media glove thing done very, very right. Either Harris Tweed or Flannel backs, with Metisse leather palms. Nifty snap wrist strap provides a bit of contour and contrast up top.

J. Crew Merino Wool Cardigan – $59.99 @ an extra 30% off ($94.50)

Different without being goofy. All merino wool with a birdseye pattern that gives it a little texture. A lighter weight layer that’s nice to have on hand when a sportcoat might seem too stuffy, but a shawl collar cardigan would be too bulky. Has gone for lower, at 40% off, before. So sitting tight for the right code might pay off.

ASOS Leather Chelsea Boots – $61.00

$61 for a pair of leather chelsea boots should raise a bunch of suspicions. But? JC Penney makes shockingly nice leather boots for around that price (or under). These were recommended by a reader (thanks Evan!) and they ship and return for free… just in case they show up and you think they’re hot garbage. UPDATE: Thanks to the Pound taking a beating as of late, you might be able to save some cash on these if you select your currency as GBP. Your credit card may ding you with a foreign transaction fee though. Who knows. But John L. who sent in the tip on that strategy is reporting that he didn’t see that on his statement, and the boots shipped from the US.

BR Merino Rib Scarf – $35.70 ($59.50)

All merino wool, chunky rib knit, 70″ x 12″ so plenty there for wrapping and good coverage. Deep navy color would look great up against a camel coat. Price above reflects a 40% discount which happens quite often.

Wexford Irish Style Creme Ale – $9.50 / 4pk

If you need a break from the big, beastly, micro brews that hammer all us drinkers over the head this time of year… then here’s a really nice option. Once upon a time during a trip to London, I watched in amazement while guys dressed to the nines in the financial district drowned pint after pint on their lunch break. And then after? Off they went to almost certainly trade paper “worth” gazillions of pounds, euros, and dollars on the markets. How was this possible while keeping a clear head? It’s that the beer over there, for the most part, is light in body and ABV. Flavor? Again, it’s not a monster micro brew. But it’s there. This one is a nice, rust colored nitro brew at 5% ABV. Perfect for sipping on during the upcoming holiday season, so you can still keep your cool when Aunt Bea brings up the election. God help us all at Thanksgiving.

Hook & Albert Blue Pebbled Leather Card Holder – $55

Slim and sleek with texture. Super useful elastic band to hold cash securely. Lots of different colors to pick from, but that pebbled blue is just different enough.

Bespoke Post “Getaway” Bag – $45.00

The travel season is fast approaching, and you might be in need of a bag (or, another bag). Simple, inexpensive, and if it’s anything like their briefcase, should be mighty fine looking in person, and dependable. 21″ x 13.75″ x 7.75″ means just over 2200 cubic inches of space. Fancy? Nope. But hits plenty of good points and should get the job done for a lot less than other options.

GAP 50% Merino / 50% Nylon “Crazy Stripe” Crew – $41.97* ($69.95)

Crazy Stripe? Not that crazy. At least this color-option isn’t. Those cool blues go great with the crisp grey and white. Has quite a… 1970s sorta retro ski sweater look to it? 50% merino / 50% nylon blend that is much softer and smoother than you’d expect. Nearing cashmere-like territory. Yes really. Does say “hand wash” but, you’re not gonna wanna machine wash most merino sweaters anyway. Size shown above is a medium on 5’10” / 185. Price above reflects a 40% discount, which happens quite often.

John W. Nordstrom Leather Driving Gloves – $69.50

It’s no secret that the Orvis Lambskin gloves get lots of play on this site. But these? These might be even better. Why? They’re cheaper, and they ship and return for free. (Which is huge for gloves… since fit? Well, gloves should fit like, wait for it, a glove.) Also available in black.
