The Under $100 Outfit: It’s hot. REAL hot.

What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Consider this new subset of the Style Scenario feature to be a bit of an experiment. How far can one stretch $100? The goal is to balance affordability while also not ending up in the total-crap quality mud. Some risks will have to be taken of course. Here’s one way to survive the hottest days of summer, on your downtime, without resorting to ripped tees and flip flops.

The Shirt: Old Navy Printed Slim Fit Linen Blend Button Down – $15 w/ MORE. Maybe it’s the full placket and buttons that create more airflow. Maybe it’s the crispness of fabric. But compared to polos or tees, a short sleeve button down is often cooler in the hottest of temps. Not quite sure why, but, they are. 55% linen, 45% cotton, and the light shade and muted pattern are perfect for a blistering hot day. ($85.00 left)

The Belt: J. Crew Factory Striped Web Belt – $8.49 FINAL w/ EXTRA50 ($16.99). Leather and sweat are rarely a good mix. Wait… what? ($76.51 left)

The Shorts: Merona Club Short in Light Navy – $17.49 ($24.99). A dependable, annual basic more than a couple of us rely on. Not some super thick chino short. For once, the cheapness is a plus here. ($59.02 left)

The Sunglasses: JCP Claiborne Retro Style Sunglasses – $11.90 w/ 24SHOP ($15.95). Dirt cheap, clubmaster style shades for those on a tight budget. ($47.12 left)

The Watch: Target Nylon Strap Weekender Style Watch – $10.99. What’s even cheaper than a Timex? Target’s version of Timex! Full honesty, this kinda sketches me out, an eleven dollar watch. But as long as it doesn’t turn your wrist green, and it stays away from water, fingers crossed that you’ll be good. ($36.12 left)

The Shoes: Keds Champion Army CVO Sneaker – $29.97 ($45). As classic as it gets. White canvas upper, gum colored sole, and they even come with an extra set of navy laces (I know… fancy). ($6.15 left)

The Crevice Comfort Agent: Burt’s Bee’s Dusting Powder – $4.85. All natural, talc free, and a fine defender against swamp crotch and goo foot. ($1.30 left. Go buy a cheap bottle of water and down the thing.)
