Shinola on sale, Cheap Chelseas, & More – The Thursday Handful

Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.

LastCall.com: 35% off one reg. priced item (exp. 10/3)

The Picks: Neiman Marcus Solid Navy Modern Fit Suit – $299.40, Emporio Armani Automatic Rubber Strap Rectangular watch – $252.85, N.M. Double Zip Dopp Kit – $35.75, Lenox Chelsea Boot – $129.35

Not bad for Lastcall, since they’ve been a little stingy lately with codes. “Regular” price to last call is the first markdown once it gets to them. So, this is really an extra 35% off one item sale, unless they’re like the suit and already marked an extra 40% off. That suit might be a good option if you’re looking for something less expensive than a suit supply, and won’t wear it frequently. Has to be fused. Poly lining. But solid navy and claims to be a “modern” fit. Here’s to hoping the armholes are higher than a Macy’s Alfani Red. Sizes start at 36R. The watch appears to have a power reserve indicator, the dopp kit is nice and spacious, and the Chelseas are made in Portugal and have a perfect toe. Try code FRSHIP for free shipping no minimum.

Bloomingdale’s: 20% off & Free Ship. no min w/ FRIENDS

The Picks: Shinola Runwell Collection – $440 – $500 ($550 – $625), Hugo Boss Grey Dial Chrono – $236 ($295), The Men’s Store Suede Belt – $47.60 ($59.50)

It’s Bloomingdale’s, so nothing is really cheap, but there are a few items that might pique some interest. Shinola Watches are built in Detroit featuring Swiss Quartz movements… and they’re sort of a love or hate thing. Some think that kind of cash is absurd for a Quartz. Others love the look and appreciate the built-in-Detroit factor. It’s hard to find these on sale (ever?), yet the code at post time seems to work. Oh, and… the Hugo Boss grey dial is a favorite, hard to find period (let alone on sale), and that belt looks to be a nice high quality suede. Code expires on Sunday 10/6.

Macy’s: Lowest Prices of the Season Sale

The Picks: Bar III Cotton Donnegal Sportcoat – $97.99 ($149), Kenneth Cole New York Slim Fit Suit – $227.99 ($284), Kenneth Cole Diamond Quilted Jacket – $79.99 ($149), Alfani Suede Tassel Loafers – $59.99 ($99)

Above sportcoat first mentioned over here, when it was still $140. So, that price drop is legitimate. For the KCNY suit… Got married in a KCNY. Key is to go with the wool or wool blend Kenneth Cole “New York” suits… the lower priced “REACTION” line are poly. This one is 69% wool/29% microfiber/2% polyester. Nice addition of the ticket pocket. Ships free, returns free in store, good reviews. An extra 20% comes off once you dump it in your cart. All of the 5-day specials for this sale can be found here.

Orvis: Extra 20% off Sale Items (exp. 10/6)

The Picks: Made in the USA Churchill Boots – $143.20 ($250), Quilted Cotton Work Jacket – $95.20 ($169), Persol Polarized Sunglasses – $159.20 ($250), Blue Suede Longwing (Veblen?)$111.20 ($179), Barbour Lowland Flyweight – $287.20 ($449), English Shearling Jacket – $799.20 ($1500)

Orvis, despite seeming to run a little big and traditional when it comes to their fits, can be a great source for high quality goods. Hat tip to Ben R. on threads for pointing out that the longwings are most likely the Florsheim Veblen Haviland. Meanwhile… that Shearling jacket. Good gravy. That’s a “damn” if there ever was one. Word is those jackets run pretty small, so consider sizing up if, y’know, you’re going to drop eight hundred on a jacket. Made in the UK.

Meermin: NYC Trunk Show set for 11/14 – 11/16

The Pick: ?

Getting city specific isn’t something that happens often around here, but this is the oft-talked about Meermin’s first show in the U.S. Some of us just can’t get over that international shipping/dollar to euro/risk-hump yet. So, this tiny step into the states might just be a real big deal. Enormous thanks to fey on threads for pointing out the New York City Trunk Show. Currently set for November 14th through the 16th.

Also worth a mention: Looks like J. Crew is running a quiet 25% off almost everything code: INSTYLE25. Thanks to “niketalk” in the comments for pointing that out. Doesn’t work on suiting, (update: actually, it seems to be working on everything. Suiting, 3rd party stuff like Alden… everything) but it does work on blazers, and there’s a few 36, 40, and 44R navy blazers on final sale. Code drops em’ to $224.25.  Huckberry just launched a warehouse clearance sale for apparel and gear. J. Crew is offering 25% off select sweaters, including a few of their “slim” cut models with the code SWEATERS. The Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale is rolling on through 10/15. JCP is offering $10 off a purchase of $50, $15 off $75, $20 off $100, & $50 off $200 w/ SAVE35. Lands’ End is taking 40% off select shoes… prices are marked. Banana Republic is offering 30% off men’s (exclusions apply of course) w/ BRNEWFALL
