Style Scenario: Nice Pints

What are you going to wear? Sometimes there’s an easy answer. Sometimes not. Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Just about every city has one (or seven). The pub that’s anything but a dive bar. They might have Coors Light and Bud on tap, but they’ve also got 30 other handles, one of which is a cask. This is a place where jeans and a t-shirt is fine, but you just might take a date there. Like your beer, you’ll want to be upgraded, but still far from snooty.

The Sweater: Extra-Fine Merino Wool Vee – $41.70 w/ BRCLUE40 ($69.50).  B.R.’s new flagship V-neck sweater. The v doesn’t dip nearly as low as their silk/cotton/cashmere, and the thickness of the all merino wool fabric is a perfect in-between. Not bulky, but not wispy thin. We could all use a little more green in our wardrobe. Code is good for 40% off through 9/10 with the usual exclusions (blazers + suit jackets)

The Shirt: L.E.C. Contrast Collar Oxford Shirt – $19.99 ($44.00). Just different enough. A grey OCBD with a white contrast collar. On sale for under $20.

The Belt: GAP Wool belt – $ 17.47 w/GAPMORE ($24.95). Maybe one of the most tempting affordable accessories of the fall. A wool belt with a scout style buckle.

The Watch: Seiko Chronograh – $140.00. One of the better looking sub $150 chronographs out there. Slightly retro feel to it thanks to the numerals. Perfect size. More over here.

The Coat: GAP Cotton/Nylon Trench – $76.70 w/ GAPMORE ($118). Looks like Gap knocked it out of the park on this one. 60% cotton, 40% nylon, a simple design and a just-right above the knee cut. Well reviewed. Now 35% off with the code GAPMORE. If you get the wool belt, you’ll trip the 40% off threshold, and the trench + belt would end up being $85.77 total.

The Beer: Deschutes Black Butte XXVHappy 25th anniversary to the reserve version of Black Butte porter from Deschutes. The Bend Oregon based brewery produces a new version of this dessert-in-a-bottle brew each year, and taking your time with a glass in early fall is a huge treat. If you can’t find it on tap in your area, you might be able to get a bottle of it online, depending on what state you live in. Not into dark stuff? Try a biscuity dopplebock (like the Full Sail at the top of the page), an Oktoberfest, or a hop-bomb double IPA.

The Jeans: J. Crew Factory Slim Straight – $54.50Or levi’s or whatever you have in your closet. Nice looking true-blue color on these, and they could get down to around thirty bucks with sales and codes.

The Boots: Johnston & Murphy Tyndall Chelsea – $122.46 w/ TAKE30OF. (Note: it’s not “off” but “of” for that code). Red Wings or other workboots would work here, but a Chelsea like the awesome J&M Tyndall looks a heck of a lot more sleek, and that’s good if you’re wearing slim pants. Perfect toe shape, big fan of that subtle broguing along the gore panels, and now an extra 30% off through amazon with the code TAKE30OF (not “off”, “of”). If that code dries up, try NEWFALL2  for 20% off. Hat tip to RobFG in the comments.
