Style Scenario: Fighting the late winter blahs

What are you going to wear?  Sometimes there’s an easy answer. Sometimes not. Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Winter’s presence is starting to wear thin, and the walls of this here cabin seem to be getting closer. But there’s been some hints of warmer weather.  Here’s one suggested way to act on your Spring anticipation without going full peacock.

The Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Caravan in Black – $88.99.  If you don’t like gold frames and also don’t like chromed out silver wrapped around your UV lenses, then consider black.  Hard to find.  $88.99 (for now) through Overstock.  More on sunglasses over here.

The Belt:  Brooks Brothers Ribbon in Green & Orange – $24 ($48).  Color.  But not crazy.

The Jeans: L.E.C. 608 Slim Fit or 628 Straight in Rinse – $68.60 w/ BUDDY + 3026 ($98).  A bit of a splurge but they’re made in the USA and the fits are great depending on your body type.  Fit comparison between the two can be found here.  Code = just launched 30% off everything Friends & Family sale.  Free shipping kicks in at $50.

The Jacket: J. Crew Factory Thompson in Corded Cotton – $117.50 – $168.  Just in.  Factory First email subscribers got to see this and the matching pant a day early (yesterday) for 30% off.

The Shirt: Overdyed OCBD – $37.80 w/ BUDDY + 3026 ($54).  More expensive than the jcp OCBD, but this “weathervane” color hits a nice mid point between blazer and jeans.  Too much blue?  Try the lighter green.

The Shoes: Allen Edmonds McTavish in Smokey Grey – $147 ($295).  Under $150?  Can’t. Resist. Any. Longer. Tempted to try and darken these up with a creme, but that’s a huge risk which could be disastrous.

The Watch: Timex Flyback Chrono w/ Cream Dial – $165.00.  Also available through Nordstrom.

The Briefcase: Jack Spade Turnpike Brief – $193 ($395).  And $164 if you sign up for their emails for a 15% off first purchase code.  Modeled after a vintage bank bag.  Waterproof canvas.

The Drink:  The Brooklyn.  The perfect winter to spring transitional cocktail.

NOTE: For the guys on the smaller side, this Factory suit in corded cotton is now available in 36S and 36R.  And if memory serves, it was last year’s corded cotton suit and the comments that followed, that might have gotten the ball rolling on Factory including sizes under 38.  Hat tip to BenR for starting the charge.
