12 Days of Dappered #3 – Luxury Shoe Accessories

It’ll be here before you know it.  So if you’re in need of a few ideas on what to give (or in some cases, what to put on your own list) this year, this is the place to be for the next couple weeks.  Our annual 12 days of Dappered covers one item each week-day between now and December 11th.  That’ll leave some time for shipping if you’re the last minute type.  All will be reasonably affordable.  See the growing archive here.

So you’ve got a shoe hound on your list.  Not only does he like shoes, chances are he likes to take care of them right too.  And there are plenty of products out there in every price range that’ll help him do just that:

Shoe Horns: Long Rosewood Stain – $9.58, J. Crew – $28, Allen Edmonds – $10, Orvis – $39
Horns he won’t have to hide.

Many of us have been using the same, crappy, plastic shoe-horn that came with a long-dead pair of dress shoes we got in high school or college.  An upgrade is something most guys would never think of buying for themselves, since it seems awfully frivolous.  But once it’s given to us, then by all means.

Flannel Shoe Bags: Foot Fitter – $5.95 (per pair) | Allen Edmonds – $10 (per pair)
No more blowing the dust off.

So his love of shoes has given him quite the collection.  Maybe a week (or even two, gasp), goes by between putting on a favorite pair.  That’s more than enough time for dust to collect even if they’re stored in a closet.  These keep his kicks dust free.

Shoe Shine Valet: Brooks Brothers – $128 | George’s – $98.00
Also makes a great backup employment plan.

The Brooks Brothers option comes with all the goods inside, but if he’s already got the equipment, consider the splurge-tastic made in the USA box from George’s.  Good grief is the walnut/hickory option a looker.  There are plenty of single-color options as well.  Box shown at the top of the page is the cedar model from George’s, and the quality is second to none.  (You could always go vintage too.)

Personalized Shoe Trees: $23.76$29.95
Name is good. “Gotta be the shoes” = better.

The cheaper option comes by way of One Cedar Lane, but know that personalization runs $.50 per character with a $4 minimum (you do get three fonts to choose from.)  More expensive option is from Allen Edmonds, where you get two lines to work with.

Shoe Luggage: Piel – $50.39 | Blue Claw Co. – $92.00
Getting close to Matryoshka levels here.

These would be for the awfully picky shoe hound & traveler.  Keeps a freshly polished pair of shoes separate from the shirts in his bag, while acting as an extra layer of protection for his footwear investments.  Total splurge.
