Endless set to die. Amazon set to step up.

Endless Execution:  Set for September 27, 2012

The existence of Endless has always been somewhat odd.  They’re an Amazon website.  Yet Amazon also sells shoes.  But Endless would run their own independent promotions, and unlike Amazon, offered free two-day shipping.  Until recently, Amazon would ding you for returns.  Endless always had free shipping and returns.

And there’s that whole Amazon acquired Zappos thing.

That’s a lot of shoe stores under one digital roof.  The beast that is Zappos is staying the same, but Amazon has decided that Endless has seen its run come to an end.  Expect them to close up on September 27th.

“Exciting”?  Not sure about that one Amazon.  Kinda liked Endless.

There’s the email announcement, which was piggybacked on a save 25% off $100 user specific code for Amazon’s new fashion hub.  One of Amazon’s drawbacks on style related stuff is that they allow third party merchants to offer their goods right along side Amazon sold and shipped stuff.  If Amazon doesn’t sell it direct, a code like this won’t work.  That was never a problem with Endless, since they didn’t mess with the 3rd party thing.  Sifting through what is good for the discount can be a pain, if you don’t know how to sort and see only Amazon.com sold goods:

Filtering by seller is key now, and will be key for future promotions.

Checking that box above is key.  Say you’re looking for shoes.  Head to their shoe store, scroll down and look on the left side.  Eventually you get to the “seller” filter.  Click the Amazon box, and… presto.  All that shows are Amazon sold shoes good for the discount.  No word on whether or not you can sign up for Endless emails now and still get the 25% off.

Armchair analysis time guys.  Will you miss Endless?  Do you think this is a good/smart move on Amazon’s part?  Do you think they’ll clean up the clutter and shopping for clothes and shoes on Amazon will soon become a top 5 or top 10 destination?  Your take goes in the comments.
