Would you wear it? Cole Haan’s Wingtip Monk

Cole Haan Air Neroli – $170.00 ($378)

Ships free with the code JULYFS, which expires 7/31/12.  No word on when this sale price expires.

UPDATE:  These just showed up over at Rue La La’s “Final” sale for $119.90.  No returns though.  Lots of sizes.

Instinct is to say no.  A monk strap combined with the wingtip stitching seems at first like way too much.  But here’s the case for this $200 off shoe being worth consideration if you’re in the market:

  • No perforations or pinked edges –  Just the wingtip stitching.  That makes a difference.
  • Made in Italy / Genuine Bologna construction – High end for CH, and that’s not easy to find at $170.
  • The Buckle – Has some nice curves/variations in thickness.  There’s some dynamics to that shape.
  • No vaguely obscene looking openings – Unlike some other monks.  Thanks raptorrapture (still like em’…)

Thoughts?  Or is it all still just a little too busy?  It’s a single monk, so most of the time the buckle will be covered by your pants.  Not sure if that makes a difference or not…
