Banana Republic Extra 40% off Sale items

40% off BR Sale items with code BRSTARS (exp 7/4)

Apparently the guys in the Banana Republic warehouse(s) are awfully sick of looking at this stuff from last season.  40% off with the code BRSTARS knocks a big chunk off already marked down items, and that additional percentage leaves a boatload of stuff now more than half off retail.

It’s clearance, so while there’s a lot of items, sizes are all over the place.  As always, picks with at least a good size variety at post time only appear below…
.

Tailored Plaid Suit Jacket & Matching Pant – $245.99 ($535)
A suit with personality at a basic price.

Not a bad price, at all, for a suit in a pattern that won’t be the foundation of your wardrobe.  Comes in the closer, tailored fit, and the quality on these is much better than other suits in the mid $200s.  Sold as separates, which is great if you’re not a standard jacket to pant ratio.  Pant sizes are starting to move quickly.

Banana Republic Cotton/Nylon Khaki Trench – $77.99 ($198)
Lots of sizes left, some haven’t been thrilled with the fit.

Sure it’s summer and no one is thinking about outerwear.  But you’re not going to find a better classic trench than this for $78.  There is a little extra room in the chest/waist area, but that’s just fine if you’ll be wearing it over suits.  Plus, there’s always the tailor if you want it slimmed, but that’ll be an investment.  Cotton/nylon blend is terrific and will keep the rain from soaking in.  Full review here.

Soft Wash Slim Fit Plaid Shirt – $28.79 ($64.50)
Over $60 is a no. Under $30 is a yes.

Now under $30 and first got considered on Monday.  Might be the time to bite.

Slub Stripe Polo – $22.79 ($44.50)
Casual.  Might want to size down.

Has potential for sure.  From the reviews it looks like you’ll have to size down, which is consistent with the polo fit on their luxe-touch polos.  A warning:  One online reviewer was particularly disappointed, which generated this opening lead to his review: “These are not the polos you are looking for.”  Give that man an extra ride on the tauntaun.  Bravo.

Silk Cotton Cashmere V in Grey and Orange – $29.99 ($69.50)
Not this trim. Not enormous, but not this trim.

There’s a few more colors on sale, but these are going to be the most versatile and come in the widest range of sizes.  Best sweater material out there.  Just wish the V didn’t dip so low.  And no, they don’t fit that trim… there’s some sort of chip-clip magic going on behind the models back.  More thoughts on orange over here.

The Sad Lonely Pants:  BR Tailored Wool/Linen Suit Pants – $59.99 ($130)
Lots of pants. Lucky you if you’re a 48 jacket.

Why.  Why are there JUST the pants left?  There are tons of sizes available in the pants.  But only size 48 left in the jacket?  If they had any jackets left, this would have landed at $186 with the code, and that would have been incredible.  But it’s not.

The 40% off Banana Republic sale items code BRSTARS expires on Wednesday 7/4/12
