With all due respect to Burl and Bing, if you’re throwing a holiday party and you want some festive music, 90% of the traditional holiday favorites will risk putting your guests to sleep.

Merry Mixmas takes many of the more upbeat holiday classics, and without butchering the originals, picks up the pace.  But just a touch.  Just enough beat, just enough drive, just enough…extras.

Bing gets the remix treatment, so does Dean Martin and Johnny Mercer.  Even The Vince Guaraldi Trio (they provided the music for A Charlie Brown Christmas) is given a gentle boost.  The CD is a collaboration from a bunch of different DJs, and it’s stunning that the producers somehow managed to find a group of artists that didn’t completely stomp all over the originals.
