Credit to the Macy’s brand American Rag for taking two of the big trends this fall (corduroy and the stand alone tuxedo jacket), and combining them into something that’s incredibly intriguing.
American Rag usually leans even younger than their siblingINC. But this blazer is pretty grown up looking on the web. Is it minimalist? No. Simple? Not really. Express tried something similar with a black denim shawl collar blazer not that far back. But this attempt is less extreme. It’s different, and for those that like to stand out without being the total focus of attention, this could become your new favorite piece.
It looks like it was made for dark blue denim or even (brace yourselves) grey jeans. The model’s total getup is a little monochrome, but toss a blue oxford in there and you might have something.
At $59.50 it’s already a (potential) sizable bargain. Plus, it’s not a “Macy’s Everyday Value” so coupons and sales will apply. You could knock the price down 20% to $47.60 if you have a Macy’s card and a monthly coupon.
