Pima cotton is stronger, thinner, and softer than its other cotton cousins. It’s grown mainly in South America, Australia, and Egypt (where it’s then called, brace yourselves, Egyptian cotton). Not surprisingly, people from those regions know a thing or two about hot weather, which is why these Pima Cotton v-necks from Gap are the perfect summer sweater.
Layered over a button down or your t-shirt when the sun sets, pima cotton is the right fabric for the warmer months. Actually, it’s the right fabric year round for any guy that hates the feeling of a squishy and thick, bumpy cotton sweater. Not to sound like an SAT question, but… Merino Wool is to Wool, as Pima Cotton is to Cotton.
Got that?
Pima cotton feels like it’s infused with silk (sometimes it is) making it extremely smooth. It’s the one fabric you could comfortably layer up with, even under a casual blazer, to dress up your summer evening wardrobe.
