Would you Wear it? CK and GQ Spring Style Video

Would you Wear it?  Calvin Klein and GQ Spring 2010 Style Video

GQ has been doing a lot of cross promotion lately.  First they sent a style corespondent to comment on and appear in the Macy’s Men’s wardrobe catalog.  And now, Calvin Klein got GQ’s style guru Brett Fahlgren to swing by Calvin Klein so they can show them their new spring line.

Calvin Klein Creative Director Kevin Carrigan (who looks like a hybrid splice of Ed Norton and Kevin Spacey) walks Fahlgren through four looks CK is pushing for the spring.  Below is the video.  After the video some observations, and underneath that… the comments section.  My question to you is:  Would you wear any of the looks?  If not, why?

…..Calvin Klein Slim Fit   |   Summer Suiting   |   Military Inspired   |   Refined Casual

Calvin Klein's four signature looks for Spring 2010

Look 1:  Slim Fit – Body Jean $79.50 | Dress Shirt $68.00Tricky Sneaker $80.00

This is the key quote from the entire video:  “This jean is our new body jean… which is profile enhancing.
Translation: They put extra fabric in the crotch to make it look like you’re better endowed. Seriously.  Don’t believe me?  Here’s proof.  That’s what the new CK “Body” line is. They make shirts and pants, and for the shirts it’s like Spanx for men. Holds in the jiggle. For the pants it’s like a padded bra for men. Makes it look like you’ve got more wobble.  So if you have any self respect, don’t wear those jeans.  Ever.  The Shoes on the other hand, kinda cool.

Look 2:  Summer Suiting –  Jacket $375.00 | Pants $150.00 | Black Laceups – $130.00

I’d wear this in a heartbeat.  It’s light, but it’s still wool.  You’ve got two fabric options for suits in the summer.  Super light wool like this one, or cotton.  And you better be okay with wrinkles if you get a cotton suit.  The issue most of us will have is the price.  Want a Calvin Klein summer suit for about half that?  It’s cotton, and linen, and you should click here to look at it.

Look 3: Military Inspired – Zip Up Shirt  $88.00 | Bryant Chino $58.00 | Yarden Boot $120.00

I’m pretty white, so that much beige/stone/taupe would wash me out.  It’s like camo for winter in Norway.  And the Zipper.  I’m not feeling the zipper.  But the shoes?  I like the chukka boat shoe look.  Available in multiple colors. Expensive, but… a unique look.

Look 4: Refined Casual – Casual Blazer $129.00 | T-Shirt $19.50 | Bryant Chino – $68.00

Everything BUT the t-shirt.  Too Don Johnson Miami Vice.  And that kills the look for me.  So, no.  Not unless I get a shirt with a collar.  It’s either too 80s, or too young looking.  Neither of which is a good look for a grown man.

So would you wear all of it?  None of it?  How about what GQ’s Brett Fahlgren is wearing in the video?  It’s slightly reminiscent of a certain Casual Friday outfit suggestion… no?  Comment below if you’d please…
