It’s all about the shoulder of the jacket.  And even a well made DKNY “Slim Fit” suit jacket can STILL have way too much shoulder pad in it.  I tried one on over the weekend.  The DKNY looked like I was wearing football pads.  Tommy Hilfiger’s Trim Fit Suit Separates are like Macy’s Alfani Red suits.  The shoulder padding is there, but it’s minimal.  You are wearing the suit, it’s not wearing you.  Careful with the Hilfiger’s though.  They can run a touch long in the jacket so if you’re not sure, get a short.

It’s a buy one get one free special on one of the best “Power” dress shirts available.  You’ll need to pay a little extra to get these tailored in at the sides, but after that you’ve got a good, thick, perfect semi-spread collar dress shirt.  Wear it when you mean business, and need people to know you mean business.

Calvin Klein Dress Belt – SALE Price w/ PASS – $27.00 (Reg. Price $40.00)

There are five essential belts every guy should own.  Your dress belt needs to be thinner than your jeans belts, have a brushed silver rectangular buckle, and it can’t be too flashy.  This Calvin Klein Belt does all that, and it’s reversible.

Alfani RED Label Black Blazer – SALE Price – $99.00 (Reg. Price $250.00)

I’ve tried this on and make no mistake, this is a dress blazer.  Black instead of navy, and instead of those goofy gold sailor looking buttons, you get flat non-embellished gray ones.  The shoulder pads could be a little thinner, but if you size down it might fit you perfect.  Another winner from Macy’s Alfani Red Label.  Plus, if you want something a bit more casual you can wear with jeans, try their Black Heather S/M/L/XL Blazer.  Just $88.
