Ties are an accessory. They should not be the main focal point of your business/evening wear. They help finish your look. That’s why your ties need to be subdued, classic, and reserved.
Like this one from Target. Proof that sometimes the best looking ties are also the cheapest, at $17.99, this 50/50 Wool & Silk tie hits all of the key requirements. Slim but not skinny, muted color, good texture, and a classic pattern. It’ll go perfect with a deep navy suit, white shirt, black lace ups, and maybe a smart watch. This is a tie that Daniel Craig or George Clooney might wear.
But what’s maddening is that this particular tie isn’t available online. Doubly worse? Good luck trying to find something similar at another store. For whatever reason, the black tie with thin white hairline stripes is an endangered species. Find one somewhere (perhaps at your own local Target) and get it.
