So you hate baggy jeans but you’re not a slim fit low rise kind of guy either. You used to have a few pair of boot cut jeans but now you just want a straight, non-tapered leg. You want a dark wash, comfortable, versatile pair of jeans that you can wear to work but also wear on the weekend.
Gap’s Authentic Fit Jeans were created for the vast majority of guys who want jeans that fit but don’t restrict. It sits below the waist but they aren’t low rise either. They’re slim enough through the leg that you can wear them to work, but their far from that emo coffee-shop-loitering ultra-tight look. And their legs open straight. No boot cut flare.
We tried on the Authentic Fit, Boot Cut, and Standard fit jeans one right after another, and the description at Gap.com is accurate. The Authentic Fit offers the modern slimness in the leg that the too-roomy Standard Fit fails to provide, all while offering a straight non-flared leg and a waist that’s a touch higher than the boot cut (but not Dad-Jeans high). And that waist is perfect for tucking shirts in, since combining low-rise jeans and tucked in shirts can sometimes make you look a little top heavy.
At $54.50 they’re more expensive than a pair of Levi’s, but if you’ve been frustrated in the past because you couldn’t find a pair of simple dark-wash jeans that weren’t too: slim/baggy/flared/tapered/etc… then you’ll probably be willing to spend a little more.
