Browsing the inventory at Yoox is insane.  There are 41,000 items… on sale.  And that’s just for the fellas.  Forget their regular-price inventory, they have more marked down items for guys in this sale than the city of Green Bay Wisconsin (go Pack go) has grown men.

They carry brands ranging from Ben Sherman to Zegna.  Free shipping doesn’t kick in until $200, and the steep $9.95 standard shipping (to the U.S.) isn’t the speediest in the world.  Returns will also cost you $6.00, so buying through them is far from risk free.  But again, the inventory is…um… ginormous.  Here’s a snapshot:

Ciro Lendini Suede Loafers – $130.00 ($138)

Only eight bucks off? C'mon yoox.

And that right there looks to be the perfect loafer shape.  Not Bass Weejun stumpy (although the weejuns are classic) and not spear like either.  A trim shape with a smooth penny strap over the top.  Made in Italy by Ciro Lendini, which appears to be a Yoox exclusive brand.

Piero Lissoni for Alessi Chronograph – $89.00 ($230)

Really different, but not freakish.

Modern looking for sure, but that’s what you get when an Italian Architect who designs just about everything he can in this sort of minimalist style is tasked with making a line of timepieces.  By some weird coincidence, Mrs. Dappered and I met an architect last week, the guy happened to like Piero Lissoni, and he was wearing this watch.  It looks terrific in person, and the sub-dials certainly keep it from looking too blank or cold.  A steal at $89 when you consider the MoMA store is selling it for $290.

Gant Polo Shirt – $45.00 ($55)

Big name, bold look.

A splurge for a polo shirt, but the colors and stripes are terrific.  For those who are anti-logo, there might not be a logo on the left chest, but there is one on the sleeve.  So know that.  Jersey knit

Bruno Magli Bit Loafer – $160 ($225) Suede Wing – $170 ($234) Calf Wing – $165 ($235)

Can’t recall seeing Bruno Magli shoes dip this low into the $100s since the great CLAD fire sale of 2012.  Bit loafers aren’t for everyone, but $160 for a standard black pair like this seems more than fair.  Toe is going to be a little square for some.  No perforations on either the Suede or Calf wing, giving these made-in-Italy shoes a cleaner look.

Belstaff Nylon/Polymaid Bomber Jacket in Blue or Black – $225 ($315)

Not cheap, but has all the bells and whistles.

That’s a lot of money for a nylon jacket, but it’s from Belstaff, so it better be more substantial than some paper thin thing you could find on the clearance rack at Old Navy.  One thing about Yoox:  They often just throw garments on mannequins and shoot the photos.  These jackets are obviously getting that treatment.  Looks like along with the collar buckle and reinforced shoulders, these come with underarm vents to help keep your pits aired out.

Ben Sherman Cotton Jacket – $69.00 ($95)

Cheap.

Or, there’s this.  Description says it’s cotton, but it looks like it might have some kind of waxed or coated treatment applied to it?  Key word there is might.  All sizes available.

Ciro Lendini Brogue Cap Toe Lace-ups – $128.00 ($158)

Budget friendly Italian shoes.

First mentioned last week over here.  Leather looks a little glossy in the online pics, but the styling is dead on for a lot of us.  Again, made in Italy for this brand that only Yoox seems to carry.

Ben Sherman Wool Blend Plaid Blazer – $125.00 ($178)

Smalls and mediums are left.

40% wool, 40% poly, and 20% viscose.  Add the synthetic blend on top of the flannel like looking texture, and you’re probably going to have to wait awhile to wear this thing.  But $125 for a blazer in this pattern is pretty low.  Speaking of low, no word on how low the tail drops, so be warned that it might be chopped too short for many’s butt-covering tastes.  A 100% wool, more traditional looking sport coat complete with ticket pocket can be had over at Overstock for around $220.

Ciro Lendini Suede Double Monk – $145.00 ($155)

Well, 70% don't think monks are overrated.

Along with the DSW brand Mercanti Fiorentini (also made in Italy for reasonable prices), Ciro Lendini is the other brand that seems to make double monk strap loafers for under two hundred bucks.  Seen the grey version of these in person, and they’re well built.  Substantial feeling in your hands, and should hold up for awhile.  Hat tip to Double Monks for “only” picking up 30% during the recent what’s overrated style poll.

French Connection Cotton Shawl Cardigan – $115.00 ($125)

Points for the extremely light colored buttons.

Something to keep an eye on, since you’ve got to think it’ll get marked down further as the weeks go on.  Looks like a heavier shaker-style knit, but the description says “lightweight.”  Hm.  Gordon’s Fisherman + Runway Model = this.

Bruno Magli Textured Wallet – $69.00 ($78)

Bumpy.

Has that basket-weave/stamped kind of look that makes it way different than a standard billfold.  Does have that brand badge on it.  Could have easily been thrown into the mix with these other not-so-normal wallets.

Scotch & Soda Wool Mix Double Breasted Coat – $160 ($245)

Has that great above the knee length.

Only available in size medium, and you’re going to have to be one of those incredible planner-types to actually consider buying a winter coat in May… but it’s a looker and under $200.

Brooks Brothers Polo – $55.00 ($78)

I’m a recent college graduate working as an Electrical Engineer and am furnishing my first home.  It’s proving to be a more difficult task than I imagined.  With the thought in mind that a bachelor pad is as much a statement of a man’s style as his clothing, where should I start looking for furniture?

He’s completely right.  Finding good looking furniture on a budget is more than difficult, it’s a pain.  It’s also time consuming.  Rush through furnishing a new house, apartment, or an office, and you’ll end up broke.  Worse yet, you probably won’t even like the finished product.   But it has to be done.  You just can’t use stolen milk crates for book cases all your life.  The key is to look in the right places for certain items.  Time and money will be saved.  Here’s where to look for what, plus your suggestions & furniture success stories are welcome in the comments…

1 .Consignment Stores – For tables, trunks, desks, and bookcases

Dining set: $200 | Steamer Trunk: $150

Consignment stores are NOT thrift stores.  These stores aren’t donation based, and therefore all the crap gets filtered out.  Consignment stores sell a client’s furniture and the store takes a cut of the take.  That means the store has more skin in the game and only accepts solid stuff that should net a fair price.  Used, but still good stuff with great character.

2. Cost Plus World Market – For big upholstered stuff

Watch for sales. 25% off is pretty good.

Cost Plus is a step above Target when it comes to furniture quality.  Still very affordable, their cloth stuff holds up quite well.  Their leather will almost always be bonded, but that keeps the price down.  You’ll have to sacrifice some craftsmanship, but that’s what happens when you’re on a budget.  Just treat your couch carefully and you’ll be fine.

3. Craigslist – Appliances, and everything else if you have the time to look.

Godspeed if you go this route

Craigslist is the Wild West.  Ugly as sin garbage will be priced like it’s some work of art, while a chair that looked like it was pulled from an oil baron’s mansion will be dirt cheap.  There is no sense here.  One way to boost your furniture budget is to go with a washer & dryer from Craigslist instead of new.  My $50 Craigslist Sears washer has been just fine for 5 years.

4. Thrift Stores – Smaller stuff like cabinets, side tables, etc…

Projector and case - $15 | Cabinet - $30

There’s a lot of rough in a thrift store.  But if you keep an open mind about what something can be used for, you’re likely to find a few diamonds.  Had no idea that film project was even in the box it now sits on.  I just needed some storage and it was inside.  The cabinet has a great antique but not girly look.  Makes a hell of a small office bar.

5. Target -  Chairs, stools, and lamps.

$400 for the pair. Shown at the top of the page.

Again, more bi-cast / bonded leather.  But not all of us can drop $1200 on a chair.  I’ve had a bonded leather chair for three or four years that I’ve got my money out of, and it’s not showing any wear yet.  Target also has basics like stools, wood chairs, and mix and match lamps and shades.  They’re inexpensive but not cheap looking.

It’s been a rough year for many.  So if you survived, or even thrived, maybe you want to celebrate.  The average refund this year is $2,913.  That’s a ton.  It’s also down 3% from 2010.  Assuming you’re not a financial lunatic and itching to blow it all, let’s cut half off this year for hypothetical splurging.  Of course there are many smarter things to do with half (or all) your tax refund, but maybe you’re in a good financial state with a solid backup plan.  Here’s some suggestions on how to live a little, while being thankful you’re not using your refund to pay for filing bankruptcy.

Christopher Ward Charcoal Trident Automatic – $499.00

Designed in England. Made in Switzerland.

Hot damn would you look at that thing.  Founded in 2004, Christopher Ward watches aren’t cheap, but you get a ton for the money if you’re able to splurge on one.  They’re an English company that makes mainly automatics with some quartz sprinkled in here and there.  They’re not afraid to take a classic (like the 1954 Rolex GMT Master, which inspired the above) and tweak it.  Get a load of the spade hour and trident second hand.  Charcoal grey bezel instead of black or silver is the icing on this particular wrist cake.  Swiss automatic movement.  Manufactured in Switzerland.  Hat tip to the comments section over here for pointing in the direction of these guys.  ($957.50 left.)

Suit Supply Wool/Linen Napoli Notch Lapel Suit – $469.00

Wool/Linen Blend in the perfect mid to light grey.

Intriguing as all hell.  Wool-Linen.  Zoom in and see the texture of the linen stand out.  Might be perfect for those upcoming early evening summer weddings, and could very well pull serious duty well into fall and early winter.  Full review of a Suit Supply Napoli fit suit over here.  ($488.50 left.)

Allen Edmonds McCallister Wingtip – $245.00 ($335)

A splurge can also be on sale.

Just got marked down as part of the Allen Edmonds 90th anniversary sale.  There’s not a lot to pick from, but the McCallister is on there for ninety bucks off.  Ninety dollars off for the ninetieth anniversary.  See what they did there?  Also available in a deep reddish brown “wine” color and a standard black.  Sale expires 4/30.  ($243.50 left)

Brooks Brothers Made in the USA Cedar Shoe Shine Valet – $128.00

$128 is full retail. Does go on sale from time to time.

Remember when your family got a dishwasher?  Or air conditioning?  Sometimes, the right tool makes all the difference.  If you’re getting by on a crappy travel shoe shine kit you picked up at a grocery store, yet already enjoy shining shoes, this’ll make you love shining shoes.  If you don’t enjoy shining shoes, this’ll make it tolerable.  (Do know this goes on sale every so often, and there are much cheaper shoe valets out there.)  Pour yourself a drink and get after it.  Speaking of pouring a drink… ($115.50 left)

Bourbon that has some of the edge taken off by way of finishing in port wine barrels.  Lots of caramel and some honey.  More earthy sweetness behind it.  Really easy to sip on.  Almost dangerously so.  ($73.84 left)

Wood & Faulk Pass Through Watch Strap – $59.00

20mm wide.

Probably the last brown one of these you’ll ever buy.  More expensive than the Timex Weekender shown on it, but hand made in Portland and the leather and stitching are something else.  Could roughen up, just enough, a more dressed up watch like the Bulova 96B104 for wear with polos, even t-shirts.  ($14.84 left)

J. Crew Ticking Stripe Belt – $13.99 ($29.50)

Comes in S/M or L/XL

Was marked down to $19.99.  Now an extra 30% off with the code MUSTHAVE.  Just under an inch and a half wide, so along with the Nautical thing, this belt embraces the slimmer belt trend.  ($0.85 left)

Almost all of a Black Joe Lewis Song – $0.85 (you’ll need $.99 for the whole thing)

Suggestions:  “Get yo Shit“  “Bitch I love you” or the as seen on Letterman “Livin’ in the Jungle.”  As talented & entertaining as he is unassuming on stage.  Saw these guys perform at a place where before the show, Joe had himself a Budweiser at the bar, checked in on the merch table, all while no one in the packed house noticed the guy in the ball-cap and leather jacket who looked, y’know, just like the lead singer of the band they came to see.  He, along with his band, then proceeded to blow the roof off the place for a few hours.

Nordstrom & Bonobos. Now selling $85 shorts?

Whoa.

This New York Times article is more about the strategies many traditional Brick & Mortar retailers have been taking when attempting to adapt to this new-fangled internet web thingy.  But the takeaway for most of us is that Bonobos, the vehemently committed to the web Bonobos, will now be sold in twenty different Nordstrom stores across the country.

Nordstrom will carry the foundational pants of Bonobos:  the Washed Chinos (in the “core khaki” colors and some brighter spring colors) as well as the Weekday Warriors.  Those are the non-iron cotton work pants.  They’ll also be carrying a few other seasonal offerings.  More here at the Bonobos facebook page, where CEO Andy Dunn did a Q&A with fans.

They’re also already available for purchase online at Nordstrom.com.  But… no ninjas there?  Maybe a place to head if they’re out of your size on Bonobos.com.

No word on how much or even if Nordstrom will mark down Bonobos pants for sales.  It’s also unknown if Bonobos pants will ever trickle down to Nordstrom Rack stores at serious discounts.

It became obvious back in February that Bonobos was changing.  There’s more than a few of us who have paid less attention, and more significantly, less cash to Bonobos this year than last.  And this is the next step of Bonobos moving from there (points in an obscure direction) to over there (points in another obscure direction, across the room)  Two questions:

1. Do you like this “new” version of Bonobos better than the old one?
2. Do you think this’ll be more successful for them?

Oh.  Well, hell… who knows.  Probably nothing.  Easy vultures.  Don’t go circling quite yet.  There’s been noticeable influx of more affordable names into the sale section at Park & Bond, but again, it’s not to the level of the great Clad event of ’12.  Shipping is $5.95, and you’re on the hook for returns if it’s not final sale, and you want your cash back instead of store credit.  A warning… a lot of this is final sale, and it’s still Park & Bond which leans more expensive.

Believe it or not, the description claims this set is made in the USA.  Tie is 2.5″ wide.  Tie bar is stainless and a trim 1.5″ wide.  Pocket square has that nice edge to it.  More pattern/color options available here.

Interesting.  Made in China like a lot (if not most?) Boss shoes, but the toe shape is perfect, and those perforations are going to be a great out-of-the-ordinary detail to some.  $160 for loafers though.  Lil’ steep.

Final sale. Really? C'mon now.

All right, so not every Boss shoe is made in China.  These are actually made in Italy.  Wingtip + Chelsea side panels = too much going on for some.  Plus, they’re a final sale item.  No half sizes either.  Risky.  Real risky.

Original Penguin Pique Polo – $30.00 ($59)

"Heritage slim fit."

This doesn’t happen often.  Can’t remember the last time this model (“The Earl”) was on sale for this cheap in a standard color like black.  Lots of sizes.  For now.  Final sale.

You think this bright striped sock trend has caught on yet?

Plenty of guys can’t understand why the hell anyone would drop twenty five bucks on ONE pair of socks.  But for those that do like splurging on the things that go between us and our shoes, these are 90% merino, 10% nylon, machine washable, and made in England.

Boss Black Hentor Gloves – $33.00 ($65)

Black and brown.

Lambskin, simple on the tops, and that real nice detail of the checked lining that barely shows at the wrist.  Skip the light jacket on cold to cool spring evenings and opt for these and a sportcoat instead.  Sizing comes by way of hand circumference.  This site should help you figure that out.  Final sale.

Someone in Miami started sweating just looking at this.

Pretty late to be talking scarves isn’t it?  Yeah.  But that’s why it’s also under $40.  78″x14″.  Mostly viscose and nylon.  23% Merino Wool.  5% Cashmere.

Jack Spade Buffalo Check Computer Case – $198.00 ($395)

Not your average attache.

Annnd there they are.  An upgrade for sure from the DSW Merc double monk, but too much more of an investment.  Expensive for plenty of us at pushing $180, but they ship free, and they’re something else.  Made in Spain.  Sizes are starting to go quick.  (Magnanni’s Handant Medallion laceup is also on sale for the same price.  Sizes are just about gone on that one.)

When did underwear and socks get so damn expensive?  Even at 40% off, ten bucks might be too much for some guys to spend on one (count em’… one) pair of underwear.  But they’re not tighty whiteys by any means.

Hugo Boss Pinstripe Wool/Cashmere Suit – $450.00 ($995)

Sharp. And then some.

Was a grand, now $450.  Not Alfani RED prices by any means, but it’s a wool cashmere blend.  During the previous LastCall sale (35% off) there was some confusion as to what was being sold.  Was it a suit?  Was it pants?  Why would they sell pants that almost cost $500 and show a jacket too?  Now it’s labeled a suit.  No word on fit though so be prepared to drop more money on tailoring.  Lots of patterns going on in the product photo, and that works for some, but the pinstripe could look incredible on top of a solid shirt and a toned down tie.  Y’know, toned down from a shined up purple paisley.

Hugo Boss Matano Suede Wingtip – $119.40 ($295)

Right time of year for these.

I like beer, oatmeal, and salmon.  But not piled on top of each other.  I like grey, suede, and wingtips.  And unlike the Ale/Oatmeal/Fish combo, you can combine grey, suede, and wingtip styling.  Down to $120.  $300 seems a little friggin’ high.  Don’t be surprised if they’re made in China.

Neiman Marcus Swim Trunks – $39.00 ($95)

K.I.S.S. swimwear.

Plain as can be.  Boring to some, except for the multi-striped mesh lining.  Whooo!  PARTY IN MY PANTS.  Does have an elastic waist, which is a no-go for some.  A few colors available, and they look to be a bit longer than the current shorter swim trunk trend, but not quite board short length either.

Cotton Plaid Tie - $23.40 ($95)

Incredibly affordable, not too over the top summery (but plenty summery) and made in the USA.  Yeah, made here in the states.  Not bad.  Ships free of course with FSANN4.

I am about to graduate from law school this coming May.  For graduation, my extremely generous parents want to buy me a graduation gift and wish to spend around $700-$800.  This is a very significant amount of money, and will likely qualify as the largest gift I have ever received.  The one caveat is that my parents do not want to purchase something remotely perishable (i.e. clothes, suits, vacations, etc.), and would rather give me more of a “lifetime” gift, such as a watch, briefcase, furniture, etc.  I have no idea what to ask for.  Suggestions?

First, huge congrats to Ryan.  There’s a group of us who got our one additional post-high-school diploma, and the very thought of going back to further pursue higher education gives us nightmares*.  Law school, Med school, grad school of any kind, or going back to get an additional degree takes levels of commitment and a patience-for-payoff that many just don’t have.  And that’s great that his parents want to give him something that’ll continue to remind him of the achievement.  Let’s spend some of Ryan’s parents money.  Your suggestions should go in the comments.

Tissot T-Lord Classic – $675.00 | Tissot Carson Chronograph – $795

Both clean with some sport influence.

Never understood those big, special occasion gifts, that were so fancy people were either afraid or rarely had the occasion to use them.  So in this case, the watch picks should be able to be worn just as easily with a sportcoat and jeans as with a suit.  No quartz here fellas, certainly not at this price, but know that there’s a lack of watchmakers producing autos in this price range.  They’re either Seiko/Orient price under $500, or real high end stuff above a grand.  Tissot is one of the few watchmakers who can fall in this range.  Both of these automatics have light dials (silver on the left, white on the right) which will work just as well with brown or black straps.  Gotta love the semi-square case shape on the 40mm diameter T-Lord.  (Want something more dressed up?  Try this or this.)

Hamilton Viewmatic – $725.00 | Hamilton Khaki King – $525.00

Dressed up and dressed down.

Originally an American brand founded in Pennsylvania, Hamilton is now owned by Swatch, and is also one of the few watchmakers to produce in Ryan’s price range.  Hamilton can lean a little more rugged, and the Khaki King is tremendous.  Like the Tissot watches, both of these designs can be found online at a lower price, but you’re taking a big risk by buying a watch at this level from someone who might not back up any kind of warranty.  Even if it’s sold direct by Amazon and comes with a warranty, it might not be the manufacture’s warranty.  So be warned.

Allen Edmonds Cordovan Strand – $575.00 | Cordovan Dalton – $675.00

92% of poll respondents would streak for these.

Lifetime?  Quite possibly.  Made in the USA from Horween Shell Cordovan.  It’s a 6 month process just to go from hide to the leather that’ll be used on the shoes.  It’s insane.  And the end result is a pair of shoes or boots, that along with decent care and the available Allen Edmonds recrafting process, you could very well be wearing for decades.

Linus Bikes Gaston 5 – $769.00

The unexpected grad gift.

As sexy as a get-around-town bike gets.  Not fat like a cruiser, not out of place like a roadbike, and not limited to a single speed.  There’s 5-speeds on this thing, and it’s still streamlined thanks to the internal gear system.  Sure she won’t be able to ride on the back of it like a motorcycle, but man will it strike up some conversations.  Stunning transportation you’ll want to use for life.  Also available in a three or single speed.

Filson Leather Field Satchel – $795.00

Tough but still refined.

Made in the USA from bridle leather.  Filson claims it takes “about 10 years to break in” so feel free to chuck it around at will.  One of those leather pieces that looks better with a few dings on the hide.

Professionally framed print/piece of art – $350 – $800

Framing costs a ton.  Prints can be relatively inexpensive, but by the time you get the frame, matte, museum quality glass, and all the other stuff loaded around it to protect the art, it can get spendy fast.  Having a work by a favorite artist or photographer hanging on your wall in a frame that is top of the line can make a real statement.

"Functional art" is right.

It’s a little above the price range, but maybe Ryan would be willing the chip in the last hundred or so.  Available in small, medium, and large.  100 year warranty, cushioned pigskin interior.  Waterproof full grain boot leather.  Be prepared to be stopped by curious onlookers, often, while walking through airports.  It’s something else.  See a size comparison and have all your questions answered in the video from Saddleback seen below:

*No joke.  I don’t know how some of you do it.  College has become distant enough in my own personal rear view mirror that it feels like someone else’s life.  I do remember walking out of my last final exam (Western Civ. elective.  Something about Merovingian kings) and thinking: “not doing this again.”  Have had a reoccuring dream ever since, in which I’ve somehow forgotten to attend a class for an entire semester, it’s required to graduate, and I can’t find the class room on exam day.  I’m sure someone with a grad degree could tell me what that means, if anything.

How ’bout some burgundy, shell cordovan, cap toe boots by Alden?  No?  What… you love him, but you don’t six hundred dollars love him?  Kidding.

Here’s the thing about most of us guys.  Even though there are some of us who like and/or appreciate various style related things, most of us don’t usually skip around town shouting about what those things are.  That falls into the category of shopping.  It’s just not something that’s naturally real manly to do.  So buying for us can be a pain.  10 suggestions follow, all of which shouldn’t cause Christina, or someone like Christina to go broke.

1. Tools to take care of his stuff:  B.B. Shoe Shine Valet – $128 | A.E. Shoe Bags – $10

This is not like him getting her a blender.

Guys like tools.  Even if they’re not always in the garage, grunting away Tim the Tool Man Taylor style.  If he loves to shine his shoes?  Consider some upgraded shoe shine supplies.  Like a horsehair brush, daubers, or go all the way with the slick shoe shine valet from Brooks Brothers (a less expensive alternative can be found here.)  If he’s got a favorite pair of shoes you’ve seen him wear time and time again (or, only on special occasions), consider the flannel shoe bags from Allen Edmonds.  He’ll think of you every time he gets out his favorite pair of oxfords.

Beer.  Yeah, it’s awesome.  If he’s got a favorite brewer, look into what kind of reserve series they offer.  The bigger bottle specialty brews can be incredible, and a great way to experiment.  If he’s more of a standard mega commercial pilsner/lager type, help him expand his horizons with a similar beer from a smaller brewery.  Above beers:  Anderson Valley Winter Solstice, and Full Sail Brewer’s Share ESB.  Dynamite.  Both of em.’

So the Tiffany version is pretty expensive, but it’s timeless.  Something he can hand down to the next generation.  But  don’t bring that up if you’re new to dating him… he could think you’re bringing up having kids.  That, and you can order Tiffany stuff VERY late and still have it delivered in time for Valentine’s Day.  Deadline for Tuesday delivery is ordering by Noon ET on Monday.

It’s up to the gift giver to read this situation correctly.  Most of us want to experience our favorite band or team with our significant other.  But if he’s got a buddy he’s been going to see the Steelers/Cubs/Gwar with since he was a kid… well then he should take him.

7. Tan Leather Gloves: All Gloves british tan nappa leather – $66.00 ($110)

Made in Italy too.

Black gloves.  We all have those.  Dark brown probably too.  But not many men have a pair of stand out, tan, ready to be worn till they fall apart gloves like these.  They’re a bit of a treat.  Cashmere lined too.

8. Favorite Sports Team Throwback: New York Knights Flannel Cap – $40.00

Or maybe his favorite actor is Robert Redford.

Most guys like sports.  Most guys who like sports have a team or two (or more) that they root for.  Hard.  A throwback allows him to still support his team, but avoid all the over-done slicked up logos of today.  Throwbacks have a real nostalgic feel to them.

9. His favorite movie’s throwback:  The Original Ocean’s 11 – $7.19

Plenty of movies have been remade again and again.  If his top flick of all time is one of these remakes, get him the original.  If that’s not the case but he’s a big fan of a series, get him some of the earliest incarnations.

10.  You, wearing something out of the ordinary in the bedroom

Giving a woman lingerie is more of a gift to the guy than the actual recipient.  So most of us won’t do that very often, if ever.  But for a woman to go out and pick up something she likes, fits her well, and is a little different from what she usually wears under her clothes?  Well that can be a very nice surprise.

“A lot of people say they’ll come back and buy it if they win a jackpot.  But I’ve never seen that happen.”  That’s what the real nice sales associate at the Tag Heuer flagship in Las Vegas said.  And sadly, no jackpot was had, so this is purely hypothetical, but say a jackpot did come your way.  Or, you’ve just been really successful.  Would you wear a timepiece that costs thousands of dollars?  Or is that just too showy, even if you have the cash?

The Case For Wearing an Expensive Watch:  Is driving an expensive car tacky?  What about living in a larger house?  Don’t most women walk around with a grand or two (or more) on their ring finger?  What about wearing a real nice suit?  If you’re responsible with your money, then there’s no reason not to spend it how you want.

The Case Against Wearing an Expensive Watch:  Watches are a bit different.  They’re just not as useful as a car, and unlike suits and homes they’ve got the brand name right there on them.  They’re just more showy.  Maybe it depends on the watch.  If it’s some flashy thing the size of a saucer, then yeah, it’s too much.  Like driving a Porsche or a Corvette around with obnoxious personalized plates.  Maybe it needs to blend in.  A stainless steel dive style won’t stand out.  But a Tag Heuer Monaco is sort of like fishing for inquiries and compliments.  Watches are great.  But they do serve a pretty simple purpose, and at what point does a watch get so expensive it becomes less of a good looking tool and more of a pure status symbol?  Besides, would you walk around with six grand in cash in your pocket?
