At Target: Timex Weekender 20mm Watch Strap – $6.99
It’ll be here before you know it. So if you’re in need of a few ideas on what to give or put on your own list this year, this is the place to be for the next couple weeks. Our annual 12 Days of Dappered covers one item each week-day between now and December 20th. That’ll leave some time for shipping if you’re the last minute type. All suggestions will be reasonably affordable. See the growing archive here.
Nothing makes an old watch new again like a fresh, striped, fabric watch strap. These aren’t a true NATO watch strap, so there’s no extra end that hangs off to loop through in order to create an ultra secure bond. Instead, these are just a slip thru style, but thick enough that there’s no real risk of your watch sliding around or falling off when not being worn.
Available at Target and while it seems some stores were slow to get these in stock, check above the Timex Weekender watch display. You’re likely to find a wide selection of stripes and solids there.
At 20mm, they won’t fit the 18mm lug J. Crew Timex, but 20mm is a pretty standard size for old and tired leather band watches that could use a new look. Think cheaper chronographs from Pulsar, field watches from Victorinox and Wenger, or others that have a dial diameter of 40 – 45mm. These are even beefy enough that they won’t look weird or slide around in 22mm lugs. Quality is great for the price. Three straps would be like giving (or getting) a whole new watch collection, all for $21.
UPDATE: As Anthony and OhioHead pointed out in the comments, these are on the shorter side. My wrists aren’t huge by any means, and at 5’9″-10″ / 165 they aren’t childlike either, but I’m on the third to last hole. Plenty of room for me, but know just in case, y’know, your name is Shaquille O’Neal. And if it is? WHAT’S UP MAN!!!
