Nobody makes affordable decent looking casual wear for men. It just doesn’t happen. A sweater or pull over at Banana Republic or from Ralph Lauren is going to set you back $70. So, if you’re trying to save a few bucks… you head to the stores that target a younger demo. Like high-schoolers and college students.
American Eagle is by far the least offensive to not just the visual but olfactory senses. I don’t know how people can work in an Abercrombie and Fitch due to the wretched stentch that flows out of those darkened caves where Mom and Dad’s credit cards go to die. AE doesn’t seem to have that issue.
But you will deal with teens. And lots of them.
Clothes cost less there because… well… those who can’t legally drink have less disposable income. But sometimes, you’ll find a gem on the shelves that you’ll reluctantly put on and by God you’ll just have to ignore the logo.
The Logo on this Mock Neck Sweater from American Eagle isn’t too visible. It’s a lower left patch on the hem of the sweater. Probably removable with a good seam ripper. It’s under $40, has a high neck to keep you warm in the colder months, and it comes in a ridiculous array of colors.
But yeah, it has the visible logo. Back to that. If you’re wearing it around the house, or outside playing fetch with the dog, or even down to your local sports bar… is anyone really going to notice anyway?
Maybe at the sports bar. And if that’s the case, so what. You got a deal.
