Esquire has written that every guy should have five distinct pairs of shoes in the bottom of his closet. I think they’ve got it pretty close with one exception (White Bucks?) That and they omit the running shoes / hiking boots that most active guys will have in there.
But their advice on getting a classic American-style pair of sneakers is certainly sound. They work with literally everything. Jeans, Chinos, shorts… whatever. And if you get a neutral enough shade they’ll certainly become a go-to on weekends or for just about anything else.
That and when it’s really hot, you don’t need to wear socks with them.
The Jack Purcell Converse have a bit more material substance to them than your average Chucks and are well worth the extra $10 -$15
